Splashy Fen is South Africa’s longest running and ol dest music festival. It is so much more than just a music festival\, it i s a festival that celebrates life\, art\, music\, people\, love laughter\, fun and enjoyment\, all within a world heritage site (The Drakensberg).
The festival started in 1990 after a night of red wine a round a fire when Peter Ferraz and Bart Fokkens decided that the farm Spla shy Fen was a perfect location for a music gathering. Expecting only a hu ndred or so fans\, the inaugural festival attracted some 400 musicians and festival goers\, and by 1995\, had become the biggest music festival in t he country.
Over the years\, Splashy has welcomed in ex cess of 150 000 people through its gates and provided a platform which has seen music careers blossom across our promised land. It is so much more than a festival…..and is rightly dubbed “SA’s Friendliest Music Fest ival”.
In recent years\, the festival has experienced a significant revival and is now attracting fans from across the continen t and globally to a festival site that is largely considered the most beau tiful in South Africa.
