Splashy Fen is South Africa’s longest running and oldest m usic festival. It is so much more than just a music festival\, it is a fe stival that celebrates life\, art\, music\, people\, love laughter\, fun a nd enjoyment\, all within a world heritage site (The Drakensberg).
T he festival started in 1990 after a night of red wine around a fire when P eter Ferraz and Bart Fokkens decided that the farm Splashy Fen was a perfe ct location for a music gathering. Expecting only a hundred or so fans\, the inaugural festival attracted some 400 musicians and festival goers\, a nd by 1995\, had become the biggest music festival in the country.
O ver the years\, Splashy has welcomed in excess of 150 000 people through i ts gates and provided a platform which has seen music careers blossom acro ss our promised land. It is so much more than a festival…..and is right ly dubbed “SA’s Friendliest Music Festival”.
In recent years\, the festival has experienced a significant revival and is now attracting fans from across the continent and globally to a festival site that is lar gely considered the most beautiful in South Africa.
